Psalms 32, 65, 68, 103, 108, and 138; 1 Chronicles 16; Psalms 96, 105 and 106

The only narrative portion in today’s reading is the return of the Ark to its rightful spot in the Tabernacle. Yahweh had brought them out of Egypt and into the land He promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Elohim gave His law to the people through Moses. The Tabernacle and the Priesthood were in place. After a sojourn in the temple of the Philistine idol Dagon and decades in the house of Abinadab the Ark of the covenant with the Mercy Seat was home. The Presence of God was in the midst of His people.

The expectation of Yahweh-Yireh was for the people to work the land and thank Him for the harvest. Elohim Shaddai wanted the power of kindness and righteousness to fill the land through the lives of His children. The LORD of Hosts, Yahweh Sabaoth, expected the grateful praise of His people. In the psalms of David, we have occasion to meditate on the need in our lives for praise.

Praise for salvation and providential care. Praise for forgiveness and mercy. Praise for Yahweh’s lovingkindness to His people. Praise for reassurance that Elohim in in full control. Praise flowing from grateful hearts in the midst of our busy daily lives. God is eternally faith ful to us, so we should be to Him.

So take extra time today – right now – to praise your God. Work will still be there when you get back to it. The family is there, too. It’s easy to get caught up in the details of life and overlook the reason for life. Take time to be holy … take time to praise Him!

Consider His nature. Consider His ways. Strive to love Him more!
