ROMANS 15:1-33
In the first twelve verses of this passage, Paul shouts the wondrous truth that the old writings (the Hebrew Bible, our Old Testament) draw all people together to glorify God with “one voice”. Why? In the knowledge and celebration that God has given us His Anointed One, Jesus the Christ.
The Promised One unites and sanctifies ALL
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Okay, so what should we expect? Joy and Peace. Many times the scriptures reveal to us the need to prepare ourselves for tribulations, and then to rejoice in the trial. Paul’s message is supplemental, not contradictory. Because of God’s victorious Christ we have peace with God (Romans 5:1) no matter what tribulations remain for us through this life here on earth.
Rejoice! All has been made right with God
The miraculous power displayed in Paul was never about Paul. These wonders and signs were about you and me. These amazing events were for the people who had no way to compare THE God with their gods. Every calculated miracle was to prove to the Jews that the Gentiles could be redeemed in the church, not in Judaism.
Peace between God and man AND Jew and Gentile
We rejoice in the midst of tribulations simply because we know what is accomplished in Jesus, the Christ. I can fight the good fight in this world knowing I am at peace with the God of heaven. Ahhh, the blessing of peace. Oh, what joy!
