LUKE 1:1-80
The priest Zechariah was ministering in the Temple. With the vast numbers of priests and Levites, these men served on a rotation. If you can imagine, the opportunity to serve would actually be a rare occurrence. Now he has that chance of a life time … and he can’t even speak.
A symphony voices heralded Messiah
Doubting of the power of God muted a respected priest. But, he could still hear. The word of the day was Messiah is coming imminently. This was the news they all waited to hear for so long. Now, Zechariah’s son will open the way for Him. Messiah’s mother, Mary sings out her joy to Zechariah’s mother, Elizabeth.
A symphony of blessing was finally unleashed
When the son of Zechariah was born, his parents named him “John”. Immediately Zechariah could speak … and speak he did. Instead of being bitter he blessed God on spoke of wondrous things to come. The time was now! God was going to fulfill everything promised to Abraham and David and bring a King who would bless the world. Justice and mercy would crown Him in glory.
A symphony of truth called everyone to repentance
The boy, John, would speak first. Before the Gentiles would hear, the Jews would be called to return to God. The way must be prepared for Messiah. Knowledge in truth would open the way of salvation and light would overcome darkness. The man, Zechariah, raised the boy, John, to become the prophet to announce the King!
A symphony of praise continues on
The good news generates astounding joy in the hearts of the redeemed. May we set aside petty bickering, senseless debating and callous attacking and join together to rejoice? Our Redeemer has come! Our Redeemer lives! Our Redeemer is coming back to take us home…
