PROVERBS 12:1-28
This particular section of the wise sayings of Solomon is a study of contrasts. Each one sets in opposition the foolish way and the corresponding way of wisdom. As we progress through these we can see the thought process of one who is planning a course for life. Which way will I choose?
One way leads to strife
Whether it is chasing after pipe dreams or coveting what you do not possess the struggle is the same. Inner friction leads to a never-ending sequence of strife. Within this strife is the element of distraction. The foolish one concocts a life plan that fills up with distractions from God.
The way of Righteousness leads to peace
The godly person does not always get things right. Quite the contrary, a godly person is keenly aware when things go wrong. Joy is found in a love for God’s correction. Navigating through life in a way that is acceptable to God removes the inner friction. Still, it requires a plan. Plan for peace.
Peace opens the door to joy
Peace with God is our only hope. Re-read this chapter is needed and find yourself in these proverbs. If you are like me, sometimes you are on the path of the fool and other times you are on the path of God. Peace comes through the doorway of correction and joy will surely follow.
