PHILIPPIANS 1:1-30

Every prayer for Christians should be made with joy because of our mutual work. We are fellow servants of the gospel, and nothing else should matter. Members of the body are special to each other because we are joined together. Together we share grace. Together we abide in peace. That is enough.

Joy must overtake our prayers

Since God promised to work all things together for good for His children, we can rest assured that our work is not in vain. No more need for second guessing, which leads to frustrations. No more striving to find a “better” plan. Together we serve in grace. Together we serve in peace. That is enough.

Joy must overtake our perspectives

When you carry out your work and I carry out mine, the gospel is advanced. Sometimes that’s not easy to appreciate fully. Seeing things this way allows us the freedom to simply serve. Serving this way allows us the freedom to glorify Christ in our lives. That is enough.

Joy must overtake our existence

Now, because of what Christ accomplished, each of us must live our lives in light of His death, burial and resurrection. Because of the gospel, each of us must be fruitful here as we long for the great harvest up there. Because He has brought us together, now we must strive together, side-by-side, in His joy. That is enough.
