Worshipping at Timberlane

As we follow Jesus into the presence of God, we join together in simple, heart-felt praise and gratitude as we become one in our worship to Him. Like the facets of a precious jewel, worship offered by the body of Christ at Timberlane is reflected in the variety of ways the Scripture opens to us. When you visit with you, here is what you may expect:

Setting

Our assembly together normally occurs in the auditorium. There are rows of pews and no assigned seats, so please sit wherever you like.

Singing

There simply is no finer musical instrument than the grateful human heart overflowing in a joyous chorus of forgiven souls. At Timberlane we cherish the times of singing our praises to God a Capella.

Prayer

In our time devoted to prayer, we boldly come into the presence of the Father through our Jesus our Mediator, offering our requests, praises and thanksgivings. Desiring the blessings of peace so that we can live openly in His service, Timberlane joins together as one in prayerful worship to God who is sovereign over the affairs of us all.

Lord’s Supper

Clothed in the joy of forgiveness and in solemn introspection, we celebrate the sacrificed and resurrected Lord and proclaim Him until He returns to take us home to Heaven. On the first day of every week, the Timberlane family communes in this memorial feast of worship authorized by Christ. After a prayer, plates containing pieces of unleavened bread, symbolizing the crucified body of Jesus, are passed among the congregation. Each Christian participating may break off a piece of bread and eat it. Following the next prayer, trays filled with cups of grape juice, symbolic of the blood of Jesus, will be passed. Each Christian may drink the contents and place the cup in the holder in front of each pew.

If you choose not to participate in the communion, simply pass the elements down the pew.

Offering

God’s Word reveals that all good and perfect gifts come from Him, and that all spiritual blessings are found in Christ. Each week we are grateful for the opportunity to make a monetary offering to God to further the work of His church. Through our sacrificial giving, the Timberlane family praises our generous and benevolent God. After a prayer, containers will be passed among the congregation to collect the offering. As our guest, you aren’t expected to contribute; simply pass the container down the pew.

Child Care

During worship services, smiling faces offer an attended nursery for the comfort of babies up to age 2 ½ allowing parents to participate in worship while their children are served in this fully-equipped space. Children are also welcome to stay by your side during the worship time if you choose.

Bible Lesson

We believe the Bible is our sole source of divinely-revealed truth. During our time of worship with our minds and hearts, we hear a message presented by our minister. These timely, enlightening, and inspiring messages from God’s Word serve to encourage and instruct the Timberlane family as God continues to transform and equip us.

Invitation

At the conclusion of the Bible lesson, the minister will offer an invitation to any who would like to come to the front and speak with the Elders. As the congregation sings a hymn, several may respond. Or none. Respondents may request prayers, confess a moral failure publicly, request to be baptized, or indicate their desire to be a part of the Timberlane family.

Shepherd’s Voice

Our Elders take their God-given responsibility to care for the Timberlane family very seriously. During the worship service, one of the Elders will make a few announcements to requests prayers for special members, or make the family aware of particular needs to be met.
